Silver Man  (continued)

I looked into the pot, rising to the top some imperfection
He said “that’s gonna need correction”.
And with his delicate hand, he skimmed the tiny specks away
Now I was sure it was pure as cool clean water
But then he turned his burner hotter
And we both stood watchin’ as it kept on meltin’ away.

He said “Son, that’s the job of the Silver Man
Just stokin’ fire ‘neath my boilin’ pan
Learned the trade by my father’s hand
Got to make it just as pure as I can."

Burnin’ on and on all day, no nothin’ was about to change
He just kept watchin’ turnin’ up a notch and
Skimmin’ off the top again.
